To achieve the goals of this project, I decided to design a keyboard with a "Gasket Mount," a 4.5° typing angle, and to manufacture with 3D printing.

The benefits of opting for a "Gasket Mount" keyboard are plentiful. Firstly, it significantly improves comfort by providing better isolation through its force-dampening characteristics. This mounting style also offers a quieter and more pleasant sound profile due to decreased force transfer into the keyboard, compared to other mounting styles, and ensures improved mounting consistency. Additionally, the gasket mounting style simplifies assembly, allowing users to build the keyboard from the base upward without needing to flip it over.

The benefits of a 4.5° angle are from experience and some scientific literature pointing to a flatter typing surface being better for the wrists.
